Odds Alpha #8

It was certainly exciting to see international teams back on their stage for the first time since the World Cup last week. However, the novelty quickly wears off and already I am bursting with excitement for the climax of the Premier League season.

Reviewing Odds Alpha #7 from last week, it was great to be on the winning side of a couple of bets. Firstly, we were correct in predicting a dominant French victory at home, as they put 4 unanswered goals past the Netherlands. In addition to that, we were also successful with our midweek tip on Lorenzo Sonego, who swept past an ailing Dominic Thiem in a convincing straight sets victory. The only dart which didn’t hit bullseye was our bet on Italy against England. It seems that the England team have really picked themselves off the canvas well since Qatar as they won their games 2-1 vs. Italy (A) and 2-0 vs. Ukraine (H).

France were dominant in their 4-0 victory.

In the return of the Premier League this weekend, we are blessed with some top fixtures. The weekend gets off to a flyer as Manchester City host Liverpool in one of the sport’s top rivalries of the past decade. Although Liverpool have managed to put up a good fight in recent fixtures, I think this is one where Man City can exert dominance. Their home form is undeniably strong. Since the culmination of last season, they’ve only been beaten once at home (vs. Brentford, 1-0) and drawn 1 game. The rest they’ve won. Liverpool’s away form, on the other hand, has been woeful at best this season. I think City could put 4 past Liverpool this weekend.

The Tip: Manchester City to WIN - 1.5 vs. Liverpool @ 2.48

Liverpool and Man City meet again this weekend - one of football's top recent rivalries.

Sunday afternoon’s big game sees Manchester United pay a visit to Newcastle in another top of the table clash, with both sides pushing to stay in the top 4 places, which would give them Champions League qualification next year. Newcastle have held their own against Manchester United in recent times and with Marcus Rashford’s fitness a concern for this weekend’s fixture, Newcastle will be lifted. They slipped up against Liverpool, when a Nick Pope red-card added insult to injury, however, I think they can avenge their loss in the Carabao Cup Final and pick up a win here.

Moving away from football, the Indian Premier League returns on Friday, which will be a boost to the excitement of cricket fans all over the globe. Whispers are that the Rajhastan Royals are a force to be reckoned with. Their squad includes Trent Boult, Jos Buttler, Joe Root, Jason Holder, Ravi Ashwin amongst others. They have a huge depth of T20 leaders and this should really put them towards the fore.

The Tip: Rajasthan Royals to WIN IPL 2023

The Indian Premier League returns this weekend.

They get their tournament kicked off on Sunday at 11am BST vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad, where I’m predicting a strong start. However, that bet doesn’t currently present value at 1.86 away from home. Always search for value.

Good luck wherever you are betting this weekend. I hope you find a few winners!!
