10 WINNERS FROM 19 SELECTIONS SO FAR!!

Last Weeks Summary

We were back with a bang over the weekend hitting the full-house on Odds Alpha #8. Although Liverpool managed to nudge themselves into a gentle 1-0 lead, Manchester City were ultimately ruthless winners, scoring 4 goals as predicted and taking the match 4-1. They are in a completely different league to Liverpool this season.

Additionally, Newcastle looked to just have far greater desire than their counterparts, Manchester United, in Sunday afternoon’s game. I am sure that they will have been fuelled with vengeance from their defeat in the Carabao Cup Final defeat earlier in the season. This will have played a large part in their 2-0 victory - it was nice to be on the winning side there…!

To top off the festivities, the Rajasthan Royals also got off to a strong winning start in the 2023 IPL. Although they weren’t suggested as a bet at 1.86, they were the tip for the tournament and thus I am pleased they made a bright start!

This Week

From this week onwards, Odds Alpha will also include a summary of the biggest events and recent talking points in crypto. This week, BTC currently sits at around the $28,000 mark and ETH holds around the $1800 region. Elon Musk caused a big stir on Twitter yesterday, changing the Twitter logo to the same one boasted by meme coin $DOGE, causing its price to surge roughly 100%. What is clear from this is that Elon has a huge influence on the movement of speculative markets, which are often impacted by discourse on Twitter. If he chooses to tweet something at any given moment, punters will trade.

This week in sport, many fans around the world will have their gaze laser focussed on the action taking place at Augusta National Golf Club as the first major of the year gets underway on Thursday. I’ve been told that the ground is soft this year, somewhat similar to the conditions when Dustin Johnson blew the field away in the Covid delayed 2020 event. These conditions would favour the longer hitters of the ball: Scheffler, McIlroy, DJ etc. It would be incredible if Rory McIlroy were finally able to pick up the coveted Green Jacket this week, having been in flying form this season. With Scheffler having to defy the odds by winning back-to-back Masters Tournaments and Rahm coming back from a recent illness, this might just be his time…

It is also worth noting that Brooks Koepka picked up a victory in the LIV Golf series at the weekend, which will be a boost for his chances. I think LIV players will be under-bet this week because punters haven’t watched as much of them playing since the Open last year, which may well be why this price seems enlarged. However, the caveat would be that LIV players may also be under-golfed. Either way, Koepka at around the 40/1 mark definitely makes appeal.

On Wednesday, our IPL tournament picks Rajasthan Royals continue their run against the Punjab Kings. They are currently priced at 1.77. If you are one to take short prices, this one might be for you! Their squad looks unbelievably strong this year and they boast experience from top to bottom.

In the Premier League (football) this weekend, Liverpool will host league leaders Arsenal in the big fixture on Sunday afternoon. These big games against ‘Top 6’ opposition are must-wins for Arsenal at this stage of the season if they are to ultimately pick up the title. Although Arsenal are clearly the stronger side on form, Liverpool have a habit of pulling these big games out of the bag. For that reason, the 2.57 available on Liverpool to win the game is appealing.

Asides from that game, the betting across the PL is difficult this weekend. An away trip for Manchester City to Southampton, a gritty Brighton side will pay a visit to Tottenham Hotspur and the recently beaten Manchester United will play Everton at Old Trafford. I imagine there will be a number of cagey affairs and, as such, it’s difficult to have a strong opinion on any goals lines this week.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Easter weekend and, if you are having a bet, I wish you the very best of luck!
